2026 Voter Guide
Statewide Ballot Recommendations
Salida • Buena Vista • Chaffee County
Ballots are now out, and this year’s election includes several pages of local and statewide questions. Some measures are worded in ways that can be confusing, so we encourage every voter to review trusted resources before making your selections.
Below is a summary of where the Colorado GOP stands on key ballot issues and local races for Chaffee County, Salida, and Buena Vista.
YES – Amendment 81, “Law Enforcement Reporting Requirements to Federal Authorities,” proposes to change the Colorado Constitution. This does not force law enforcement to act as ICE agents. Cooperation makes Colorado safer.
YES – Amendment 82, “Right to Natural Gas,” proposes to change the Colorado Constitution. Homeowners deserve to choose how to heat their homes. Protect consumer energy choice.
YES – Amendment 83, “Constitutional Right to Hunt and Fish,” proposes to change the Colorado Constitution. Protect Colorado’s outdoor heritage.
YES – Amendment 84, “Mail Ballot Voter Identification,” proposes to change the Colorado Constitution. Strengthen election security and election integrity!
YES – Amendment 85, “Plain Language Ballot Questions,” proposes to change the Colorado Constitution. Voters deserve understandable questions without sneaky ballot language.
YES – Amendment 86, “Congressional Redistricting,” proposes to change the Colorado Constitution. Keep redistricting independent – no mid-term gerrymandering.
NO – Amendment 87, “Graduated Income Tax,” proposes to change the Colorado Constitution. Reject a multibillion-dollar tax increase. “Taxing the rich” has proven to create even greater income inequality.
NO – Proposition NN – “State Public K-12 Education Funding” (SB26-135) proposes a statutory change. Project TABOR and taxpayer refunds. No tax increase. No new slush funds for Legislatures.
YES – Proposition 132, “Penalties for Fentanyl Crimes,” proposes a statutory change. Hold fentanyl dealers accountable. Tougher sentencing requirements on deadly drug deals so dealers don’t go free.
YES – Proposition 133, “Penalties for Human Trafficking of a Minor,” proposes a statutory change. Protect children and punish traffickers. Mandatory Life in Prison for sex trafficking a child.
YES – Proposition 134, “Male and Female Participation in School Sports,” proposes a statutory change. Protect fairness in girls’ and women’s sports. Keep only biological girls in girls’ sports.
YES – Proposition 135, “Prohibit Certain Surgeries for Minors,” proposes a statutory change. Protect children from irreversible procedures. Prohibit body-altering sex changes for minors.
YES – Proposition 136, “Income Tax Rate Cap,” proposes a statutory change. Put a ceiling on Colorado income taxes. Caps CO income tax rate at 4.4%.
NO – Proposition 137, “Designate Sporting Goods Sales Tax Revenue for Conservation,” proposes a statutory change. Support conservation without weakening TABOR. They have enough money already.
